Apollo In-Flight Coveralls
In the Apollo spacecraft there was enough room for the crew to remove
their space suits during the mission. A
set of coveralls was developed for wear without the suits.
The Teflon-fabric coveralls consisted of a jacket, trousers, and lightweight
fabric boots. Edwin "Buzz" E. Aldrin, Jr., wore this set of coveralls
during the flight of Apollo 11, July 16-24, 1969.
Constant Wear Garment
The Constant
Wear Garment was a one-piece undergarment worn under the in-flight
coveralls and under the space suit while in the spacecraft. Astronaut
Michael Collins wore this garment during the flight of Apollo 11.
Sleeping Restraint Assembly
The restraint
assembly was designed to hold a sleeping astronaut in place
so that he would not float about, possibly interfering with the operation
of the spacecraft. This assembly flew on Apollo 11.
Space Pens
The Apollo 11 crew used these pencils
and felt-tip pens on their flight. The ball-point pen on the
right has a special gas-pressurized ink cartridge for writing in weightless
conditions.
