Survival Rucksack
The Apollo survival kit provided 48 hours of survival supplies for the three-man crew, if rescue was delayed. The supplies fit into two rucksacks. Rucksack 1 and its contents are displayed here. Rucksack 2 contained a three-man life raft, a sea anchor, and three sun bonnets. The rucksack shown here was carried on the Apollo 11 mission.

Survival Knife


Dual Life Vest Kit
Each astronaut was provided an inflatable life vest for use after splashdown. This dual life vest kit was carried aboard Apollo 11.

Survival Light
Two of these multi-purpose units were carried in the Apollo survival rucksack. In addition to a flashlight and a flashing strobe light, each unit contained a signal mirror, compass, fire starting kit, and a fishing kit.
