In the Museum

If a spacecraft flies only in space and not through an atmosphere, it does not have to deal with drag. Its shape and configuration can be sprawling and irregular. This is a 1/40th scale model of the International Space Station, located in the Museum's How Things Fly gallery. A joint effort by the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, and Europe, it will be the first large, hospitable, permanent human outpost in space.
